Albert got up early
Tuesday the 16th, loaded up Ringo and headed this way.
Breakfast was sausage biscuits at MacDonald's - no eggs for
Ringo J
It was like
old home week as Albert has gotten to know us via the web site
and he and Ben traveled some of the same circles in Missouri.
We had a pleasant
visit with Albert bracing up for the cold north wind with coffee
and cookies. He and Ben worked Ringo for awhile so that
Albert could show Ben what he wanted worked on. He's
leaving Ringo for a "tune-up." Ringo is a big help to him
running about 60 cow/calves on 400 acres.
We were able to
learn a little about Albert. He served almost 40 years in
our armed forces before retiring. A Vietnam veteran and,
forgive us, I didn't write down his official title, Chief
"polygraph guy" at the Pentagon. He had some fun stories
and was involved in some of the higher profile cases and
incidents. He was in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.
Gives us goose bumps. People like Albert are the backbone
of the United States.
When he retired,
Albert was awarded the Legion of Merit award. It is
awarded to any member of the Armed Forces of the United States
or a friendly foreign nation who has distinguished himself or
herself by exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance
of outstanding services and achievements. |
