Jack Warden, Ed Hamersley

Monday, September 29th cooled off a bunch!

You can see the steam rising from the pond early morning.  Ben got the other colt, Chic, castrated this afternoon with the help of Bob Apperson, Welch, Oklahoma and his sister Maureen.  Before Leslie could get out the door, they were done.  Right - Double and Keeper during the morning run.

Auction at Chetopa, Kansas for Ben on Sunday the 28th

Funny, the Ford tractor he was interested in from the sale bill, didn't show up.

And the trailer sold for double of what he was going to pay for it.  :>))

Ed Hamersley, Walker Missouri

Sunday the 21st started off bright and sunny with a nice breeze.  By the time Ed made it over after church early afternoon, it thundered and rained big time for about 20 minutes.  Ben and Ed slipped into the house to watch dog videos and discuss pedigrees.

After it dried out a little, they ventured back out to work some young dogs.  Think the pups and goats called it a draw :>))  However, they did know what to do with the calves - below, Patch (10 mos) shows his stuff to Ed.

Michelle Markham and Bob Kirby, Vinita, Oklahoma

Michelle and Bob visited with the congregation about the 40 Days of Purpose which starts October 11th.  They went through the 5 steps which included daily reading from the best-seller book, Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.  There are over 4,000 churches nationwide that will be participating in this 6 week program.  If you are interested in learning more about it, the Purpose Driven web site is at http://www.purposedriven.com/

If you're in the northeastern Oklahoma area, drop in on Cowboy Junction anytime.  Today after church services there was a big roping.  The one a couple Sundays ago had over 500 teams.

Jack Warden, Bluejacket, Oklahoma

Jack, our neighbor, had a busy day Saturday the 20th.  He helped a relative gather cattle early, helped out at the Ratcliff Angus Farm annual sale all day and on his way home stopped by to help Ben castrate a colt.

Mac, the sorrel colt, was none the worse for wear.  These experienced cowboys made it look easy.  The whole thing didn't take 10 minutes.
