Coon hunting, good old dogs.

David and Marilyn Stark of Miami, Oklahoma

Ben had an opportunity to stop in to visit David and Marilyn this afternoon.  David's dog is "Rowdy" a son of Woodrow's Jack.  He and Ed Hamersley have been beating the bushes for some of their old blood of Border Collies.

The Starks are only recently retired from cattle ranching and Rowdy, at 8 years of age, was one of their last working dogs.

Coon hunting weather!

Thursday evening, June 5th, we loaded up dogs and headed to Dwight and Connie Newton's at Salina to meet up with Harley Stewart from Oscar, OK.  Harley and JD Eubanks were up to look at coon dogs.  Yep, they're coon hunting cowboys!  (Ben's a retired coon hunter :>))

Dwight and Connie are in the finishing stages of house remodeling so we've added a few extra pictures of the visit.

Cool and easy on Saturday, May 31st.

Friday was still 92 degrees at 7:30 pm with a lot of humidity.  Today got to the high 70's with a nice cool breeze.  Ben worked hard to finish stringing his west 1/2 mile of electric fence for the new goats - whenever he finds them :>))  Leslie and Keeper went out in the evening to gather the pasture cattle.  We thought the ticks had died down some...so, we don't know which of us left one waltzing on top the chest deep freeze!

Craig County Ranch Rodeo, Friday May 30!

We had a great time.  Of course we timed it so that things were already starting and the calcutta was half finished.  That way no last minute requests for Ben to participate :>))  Folks, if you aren't from this neck of the woods and don't really know what these cowboys have to do to make a living - this will sure enough give you a good view.  These people vary in age from 20 to 70.  It's teams of 4 and these people are a team.  Click here to see some of the action.
