Sean Gast, Ed Hamersley, Cowboy Junction Study Group

Saturday, August 28th.  Ed Hamersley and grandson, John, drive down from Nevada, Missouri.  Randall Hall comes up from Poteau, Oklahoma area.  They hauled in some dogs, worked some dogs and talked dogs.  Leslie snapped everyone taking a break and John took over the photography duties outside.  He got some great shots.

Right - Photographer John - self-portrait, below the gang's all here and Ben and Leslie checking out Ed's latest acquisition.

Friday, August 27th.  Cowboy Junction study buddies came over for potluck and trail riding.  The trailers started arriving around 6 pm.  We thought it was gonna be hot and humid, but we must have all been in agreement praying for pleasant weather - it was.  Good food and fellowship.

Friday, August 27th.  Overnight escapees.  Ben and Lena load up to go look for them.  When Leslie came out, she noticed they were in front of the corrals in the road.  She and Keeper slipped them back in just in time for morning grain.  Either the new calf Ben bought at yesterday's sale is a houdini, or we left a gate unlatched !!

Thursday, August 26th.  Sale Day at the Welch Stockyards.  Ben sends Lena to gather. Ben sent 9 month old Bill after she got them started.  It was pretty humid, so Keeper joined in to shove 'em in the corrals.  The dogs had a good time !  Ben got his three calves sorted off in no time.

There goes Bill.

They're in !  Left, Bill, Keeper, right, Lena.

Wednesday, August 25th.  Sean Gast, Castroville, California stops in for a visit on his way through Oklahoma.  Sean and his wife raise Suffolks and he is looking for a good stock dog.  Sean, a corporate pilot and his wife a school teacher and counselor, live in the artichoke capital of the world !!  We had a fun visit talking dogs and finding out about the agriculture where Sean is from.

Above Sean, Leslie and Keeper.  Above right, Keeper moves the goats around as the "major" and "minor" guard dogs look on.  Right Sean says adios to Ben.
