January 2007 - Brrrr, it was a cold one with a major ice storm.  We met the family for Christmas in Missouri right after the New Year.  New puppies - Hunter x Queen.  Queen is a full sister to Allen Sanders Bear dog and a half sister to his Max.  Glenn Christensen, Collinsville, OK brings up a couple of dogs to work.  Tommy Huddleston, DeQueen, AR came by with Ann.  Don Beougher, Elk Falls, KS brought Jill for training. Cold, cold, cold.

Brrrrrrrr.....Ben keeps the home fire burning.

New Years started off with a fun family Christmas with everyone converging in Dadeville, Missouri.  The kids framed a couple of dad's reining horse competition wins for him.

Above -  hog hunt southeast of Bluejacket !  Ben's on the cell phone asking the guys where the heck they are.  The whole section looked like that.  They ran some, but didn't get any that day.

Allen Sanders stopped by.  The ground was soft.  Ben got him out with the trusty tractor.

Tommy Huddleston, DeQueen, Arkansas, brought Ann for training.

Glenn Christensen, Collinsville, OK, brought his two dogs up to work with Ben.

Left - Leslie has a captive audience as she prepares supper.  Above - part of the crew who gathered at neighbor's Mike and Debbie Kessel's to watch the NCHA Finals on RFD-TV.

Left - Don Beougher, Elk Falls, Kansas brought Jill for training.  Jill peels them off the fence for Don.

Below - The great Oklahoma ice storm.  We were on the north edge of it.  As you can see the critters were iced over too.  It hit on a Friday.  Over 104,000 lost power.  The power companies are doing an amazing job.  A second storm came through a week later, but we got very little out of that one even though it was suppose to dump 6 - 9 inches here.

Icy horses.  They fared pretty good.  Mack colicked on about the third day of the icy weather, but came around right away after the Banimine.

We heard some folks will be without power for maybe 6 weeks.  We were blessed as we only lost water for a couple days.  Of course that had us scrabbling to fill anything that would hold water (and fit in the house) so we could water livestock.  Icy cattle, frozen hoses, brrrrrrrrrrrrr..

Lena brings them up.  Keep puts them in the corrals.  Ben scoops and hauls the feed.

Sheep and goats chow down.  Below - Scooter "purveys her icy kingdom" - it's sleeting in the picture.

The Queen x Hunter pups are growing.

House dogs, Perch and Scooter are cozy by the fireplace.  Of course, they're ready to go outside at the drop of a hat.

Stay safe and warm during this winter weather.
