August 2007 -
Hot, hot, hot and more flooding in Oklahoma and Missouri. It
went south of us and surprisingly, we needed the rain when it
came. The pond is low again. It's been a different
summer all over. With the heat, Ben's only been taking a
couple of outside dogs at a time. Thanks to all our clients
for their willingness to work around the weather. Doesn't
seem like things have let up in the office much this month, so we
didn't get pics of all the happenings this month. Here are a
few highlights - Best of the Best Calf Roping and neighbor Bud
Highsmith's birthday party.

Cover. You saw Ben sitting at computer typing away on the last
page, this is the cover picture he came up with. He arranged
the gear our buddy Matt supplied and Telly Stotts snapped the
picture. |

Above is Trevor Brazile roping at the
Best of the Best Calf Roping put together by Jackie Moore,
Joplin Stockyards
that was held September 1st. It was truly the best of the
best. They sent a private plane to Walla Walla, Washington
the night before to fly about half of the ropers in. |
"Chic's" brother (not really, but
the bay reminded Leslie of Chic) exhausting the roping calves. |
The "best" shuttle going at the
calf roping. |

The "One Armed Bandit's" daughter
performs at the calf roping. Above right is Mike Payne
visiting with Ben. Mike's dad Kenny, Ben's good friend
and mentor, was one of the world's greatest ropers ever.
That's from the Ben Means "Book of Cowboys." |

Above our study buddy Richard.
He loves dessert. We got together for homemade ice cream
and cake. Right Ben checks out the cool ride we saw at
the local farm storm. The driver wore bib overalls. |

Left neighbor Jack Warden shoes Mack.
Jack and his family won 1st in the horse drawn division of the
Will Rogers parade. Yea, Jack. Above is Greg
Highsmith's long awaited CD. Leslie (with Ben's input,
of course) designed the cover. |
